Employment opportunities:
The Victorian Government has introduced a $500 million Working for Victoria initiative to help Victorians, including international students who have lost their jobs as a result of Covid -19, to find paid work that supports the community.
You are eligible to participate in Working for Victoria if you are legally able to work in Victoria and you are unemployed or have recently lost most of your income.

There will be a range of employment options available, including positions that comply with the work hour requirements for student visa holders.
The intention is to connect people to jobs in the industries where there is a demand for workers.

The International Students Relief Fund:
The Victorian Government has also announced a $45 million International Students Emergency Relief Fund for international students facing financial hardship as a result of Covid-19. You can register your interest on the Government website www.studymelbourne.vic.gov.au
New laws have also been introduced to help protect tenants in a residential property from eviction, and help if you are suffering financial hardship. You can find help on the studymelbourne website.

Victorian hospitals will waive the costs of treatment for overseas travellers, including international students, with symptoms of Covid -19 who fall ill in Australia and do not have adequate insurance cover.
