If you have been granted a visa to enter Australia and the visa requires you to enter before a specific date, the Department of Home Affairs has advised that you should contact the Department once the date has lapsed and you have a proposed new entry date.
The Department policy states that an extension of the initial entry date may be granted where there are exceptional and compelling circumstances which have prevented you from complying with the entry date. You may be provided with a letter to facilitate travel that will include the new date of proposed travel.
If your health and character checks have already expired, you will be required to complete new checks before a letter facilitating travel can be provided.
COVID 19 (Coronavirus pandemic) Update – Travel to Australia if you have a visa which requires you to enter before a specific date
It will be extremely important that you contact the Department if you are in this situation, so that your visa is not cancelled because you failed to enter Australia by the initial date of entry.
